A key aspect of our Heritage Lottery Funded activities for our Golden Year, is the preparation and distribution of resource packs for schools, youth groups etc. The first batch has been assembled and posted out to local schools and colleges!
The pack consists of a covering letter, an introductory booklet describing the main styles of Morris dance (produced by The Morris Ring) and a CD rom all contained in folder. The CD contains the equivalent of in excess of 100 pages of A4 documentation. The contents describe, in more depth, the history of GMM but also provide much more information on many local folk and calendar customs along with dance instructions, a Plough Play script, a “myth buster” and a photo gallery. The CD also gives links to websites and internet resources. In addition, there are scores of links to videos of examples of all the kinds of Morris performance that can be found on the internet. We hope that this will provide an inspiration to educators and perhaps dispel a few myths about The Morris!
